At South Ossett Infants Academy we believe that the child is at the centre of everything we do and we have tried to create a broad, balanced and creative curriculum to ensure that children are engaged in their learning and above all enjoy coming to school. We have enthusiastic, caring and professional staff who work hard to ensure this happens.
We want every child to reach their potential and our ultimate aim is to create a lifelong love of learning which gives children not only new skills, knowledge and understanding, but also key learning attributes that will enable them to succeed as they begin their path in life. We have a culture of learning in which we have high expectations of all children that enables them to achieve through challenge and support.

Well done to this week’s award winners! We’ve had a fabulous few days and it was an absolute pleasure to welcome so many parents and carers into school for our picnic and celebration of VE Day. Enjoy the lovely weekend weather everyone!
Today parents and carers joined us for a #VEDay picnic. We had a wonderful time, and the children really enjoyed this treat. A big thank you to everyone who joined us to reflect on this important historical event and the courage and sacrifice it represents.

Congratulations on an amazing Ofsted report! Our Headteacher, Mrs Young, has led the team over at Middlestown Primary Academy since 2021. We also now have several members of staff who work across both sites - well done on all your hard work!

Ofsted praised us as a “warm and welcoming” school where pupils “receive an excellent education and a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom.” Our glowing report highlights the fact that our children are happy and safe at school, enjoy meaningful enrichment opportunities and are overall “exceptionally well prepared for their next steps.”
Hannah Young, Headteacher at Middlestown Primary Academy and South Ossett Infants Academy, added: “We are absolutely delighted with the results of our recent Ofsted inspection. The report perfectly encapsulates the fantastic behaviour and attainment of our pupils, as well as the passion and enthusiasm they pour into everything they do.

Foundation Stage children have been learning about the lifecycle of butterflies! We have watched tiny caterpillars grow and turn into cocoons, before hatching into beautiful butterflies. The children were absolutely thrilled to help release them into our outdoor area. A wonderful memory for them! 🦋

The children enjoyed a really exciting visit yesterday from adaptive athlete Anneka Allen. Anneka is a professional CrossFit athlete who placed 10th in the world at the 2024 The CrossFit Games and has competed all over globe. She spoke about her sport, the kind of training that she does, and even demonstrated a handstand for her very excited audience! She also answered plenty of questions about what daily life looks like when you have a limb difference. Thank you so much Anneka – the children loved this session and came away inspired!
